These Nutritious and Healthy Fudgy Banana Brownies are so decadent, indulgent, and rich, it’s honestly hard to believe that they’re filled with nourishing and wholesome ingredients! Plus, they’re naturally vegan and gluten-free, making them a perfect snack for many people!
As we all already know, I love anything that is banana and chocolate. I want both right now.
Something about the combination is just so comforting and delicious to me, I don’t know what it is.
AND THESE brownies are AMAZING. They taste SO good, and that fact that I know I’m feeding my body lots of nutrients while still feeding my soul, just makes me love them a million times more.
I’m also definitely more of a fudgy brownie girl than a super crispy brownie girl and these definitely deliver.
You honestly can’t even tell they’re “healthy” (not a huge fan of that word, I’ll write a blog post on it soon). You can slightly taste the banana, but like I said I’m not mad about that combo.
My family and friends could even tell there was avocado in it (haha siblings and HH, gotcha).
These brownies don’t last more than 24 hours in our house – I can seriously eat half a pan on my own, no regrets.
Why are these Nutritious, Fudgy Banana Brownies Amazing?
- They taste damn delicious
- We’re getting soooo many micronutrients and nourishment without even realizing it!
- They’re so easy to make!
Ingredients in these Brownies:
When I say lots of nourishment, I means lots.
Bananas: The bananas are going to help keep these brownies nice and moist, while giving us a nice banana flavor. Just make sure they’re ripe (like banana bread ripe). If you don’t like bananas, you could try subbing with a cup of apple sauce, but I haven’t tried that!
Wholesome Fats: We’re going to be adding in avocado, chia seeds, almond butter (or any nut /seed butter), tahini (or more of almond butter), and honey / maple syrup. All of these are going to help bind the ingredients together, while also making the brownie fudgy!
Almond Flour: The almond flour is the base of these brownies! I haven’t tried any substitutes, but I can imagine oat flour would work as well!
Cacao Powder: I like to use cacao powder because I personally like the flavor more, but if you a good quality cocoa powder (not Hershey’s sorry), that would work just fine too!
Chocolate Protein Powder: I like to add some protein powder just to get in some extra nutrition! You can also sub with a vanilla protein. If you don’t have one or a good tasting one, just sub with an equal amount of cacao powder! I like to use Tropeaka’s or Vivo Life’s!
How to Make Nutritious Fudgy Banana Brownies:
Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350 F and line an 8 x 8 pan with parchment paper. Make the chia eggs by combing 2 tbsp of chia seeds with 5 tbsp of water. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then stir. Let sit for 2 more minutes.
Combine wet ingredients: Mash the avocado in a large bowl. Then add in the banana, chia eggs, almond butter, tahini, and honey or maple syrup. Combine well.
Combine dry ingredients: Add in the almond flour, tapioca starch, cacao powder, protein powder, and baking soda. Combine well. Add in the chocolate chips and combine well.
Pour: Pour the mixture into a lined pan and sprinkle more chocolate chips on top.
Bake: Bake for 15-20 minutes. Let them cool completely in the pan for 30 minutes, then lift the parchment paper out and let finish cooling.
Why are these brownies balanced?
These brownies are packkked with lots of nourishing ingredients to fuel your body with wholesome ingredients.
Protein: If you’re using protein powder, this will be the bulk of your protein! But if you’re not using protein powder, your still getting a good amount from the nut butter and almond flour!
Carbs: The banana, honey / maple syrup, and almond flour are going to give you lots of energy!
Fats: Loooots of filling and tasty fats from the avocado, chia seeds, and nut/seed butter.
Storage:
Like I said, these brownies don’t last long in our house, but we usually put these in a plate and cover with a wrap.
These should last for 2 days at room temperature!
