Here are the 8 (TOTAL) skin care steps that you NEED to have in your routine to have glowing and radiant skin! This guide is THE EASIEST morning & evening glowing skincare routine!
My skin used to be something that I struggled with and was really insecure about. But after lots of trial, error, and research I was finally able to clear my skin and now I can maintain it!
This blog post won’t be about how I cleared my skin, that’s a whole other story that had to do with more than just products, but I wanted to share with you the skincare routine steps that I use today to try and maintain my skin!
Also, I will mention some products I use, but you don’t have to use these! The only thing I would recommend would be to find a product you like, and then go on the EWG website to make sure that there’s not a lot of ingredients in there that could irritate your skin or cause damage in the long run!
I really used to struggle with figuring out how many steps my routine really needed and what types of products would irritate my skin because it’s SO sensitive, so I hope this guide for the Easiest morning & evening glowing skincare routine is helpful for you!
And a quick disclaimer that I’m just speaking from personal experience, but everyone’s skin is different so please also do your own research into products, ingredients, and what would work best for you!
Alright now let’s get into it 🙂
Morning Routine
Cleanser
I don’t wash my face every morning. I usually will wash it every other morning and those are usually the mornings after I do I sleep mask. I like to use the Shea Moisture Manuka Honey face wash in the shower in the mornings!
Toner
I know that a lot of people don’t like toners because they say that it doesn’t really make a difference, and for the longest time I was one of those people. But then I started to use a hydrating toner and I just feel like it preps my skin for the rest of the products and gives an extra layer of moisture and dewiness. I like to mix a couple drops each of the Primera Miracle Seed Essence with couple the First Aid Wild Oat Hydrating Toner! I’ve been using both of these for 7-8 months and love them both! They also last a really long time! I purchased in May 2020 and I still have 1/4 of each left (January 2021)!
Serum
I never used to use serums, but not that I use them I cannot go back. They’re so powerful and each serum has its own benefits. In the mornings, I like to use Vitamin C and sometimes an Antioxidant essence. But when you use Vitamin C during the day, make sure to always wear sunscreen!! (You should be wearing sunscreen every day anyways, but especially when you’re wearing a vitamin C because the sun can cause more damage to your skin when you have vitamin C on!) I like to use Vitamin C and E together because vitamin E can help boost the properties of Vitamin C and vitamin E is good for scars and soothing the skin while vitamin C helps with brightness! So, I like to use the Timeless Vitamin C + E serum.
Moisturizer
No matter what type of skin you have, you need moisturizer! I like to not use a super heavy one during the day, so I’ve been using the Wild Oat Hydrating Cleanser from Krave Beauty or the Soon Jung 10 Free Moist Emulsion Moisturizer!
Sunscreen
If you take only one thing away from this, it’s that you should wear sunscreen! It’s so important in protecting your skin to prevent skin cancer. I like to use Krave Beauty Beet Shield or the SuperGoop MatteScreen (tinted) because they protect from both types of UV and the SuperGoop protects from Blue light rays! This Supergoop one is the same, but not tinted! I also like the SunBum brand if you’re looking for a drugstore one!
Nighttime Routine
Cleanser
I like to switch off cleansers at night because I feel like my skin gets used to cleansers if I use them every single day (this might just be all in my head haha). I also like to double cleanse at night, which is when you use an oil cleanser first to get off your makeup or sunscreen, and then a gel cleanser to really make sure everything is off! For my oil cleanser, I use the Then I Met You Oil Cleanser. For gel, I like to alternate between the Krave Beauty Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser and the Then I Met You Gel Cleanser. I like the Matcha Hydrating Cleanser from Krave Beauty because it’s a super light exfoliation and doesn’t irritate my skin!
Toner
At night, I like to use a different toner than the day just because different toners have different properties. I still use a couple drops of the First Aid Hydrating Oat Toner, but I mix it with the Centulla Green Calming Toner. I feel like this really helps a lot in just gently cooling down my skin after the day!
Serums
At night, I like to use serums that are calming and preventative. I don’t want to use a retinol just yet because I’m still young and I feel like retinols can be really harsh if you don’t use the right one. So I like to use a more natural sort of retinol if I’m going to use one. For my night serums, I typically choose 3 between Krave Beauty the Great Barrier Relief, Biossance PhytoRetinol serum, Skin Food Honey serum, Niacinamide b3 serum, OIL DOWNSTAIRS and mix a couple drops of each.
Moisturizer
At night, I like to use a heavier moisturizer because I feel like at night is when our skin repairs and regrows and I want it to not get dry at night. I choose between either the Drunk Elephant Polypeptide Cream, the Soon Jung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream, Coco Bliss Intensive Repair, or Biossance Squalene Moisturizer.
Oils
If I have a certain concern, that’s when I’ll use more targeted oils like Rosehip seed oil, Jojoba Oil, Tamanu Oil, or Squalene Oil.
But if I don’t have a specific concern I’m targeting, I’ll alternate between the Laniege Overnight Sleep Mask, and the Drunk Elephant Marula Facial Oil, the Kora Glow Face Oil, or the Herbivore Emerald Oil
I hope that you can take some ideas on here on the large steps you should have in your routine! It doesn’t need to be complicated, just 4 steps in the morning and 4 at night.
Don’t get too overwhelmed, just start out by adding one step to your routine and go from them!
Let me know down below what your step you’re going to add into your routine first!
