This Spicy Orange Tahini Tofu Stir Fry has the perfect balance between the kick from the orange, and the spice. You need this quick, easy, weeknight dinner!
When I don’t feel like cooking, stir-fry is definitely one of my go-to meals.
I randomly just threw together all these ingredients with literally no expectations, and I was really surprised at how good it turned out.
The zest from the orange and the spice from the sauce perfectly balance each other out, and the tahini makes the sauce nice and creamy.
And, this took me about 35 minutes to make, so that is a win in my books.
Ingredients in Spicy Orange Tahini Tofu Stir Fry:
Tofu: This is what I used as my protein source, but feel free to use whatever you have on hand!
Veggies: Use whatever you have on hand! I used bell pepper, zucchini, broccoli. Carrots, green onions, mushrooms, and red onions!
Orange: We’re going to need the juice of 1 medium sized orange, and the size of about ¼ of it!
Tahini: Make sure it’s nice and runny! I use this one!
Coconut Aminos or Soy Sauce: Either one will work!
Sesame Oil: Brings a really nice flavor to the dish so I wouldn’t skip it if you have it!
Chili Garlic Sauce: Whatever hot sauce you have on hand should work, but I prefer this one for my east Asian dishes!
How to Make Spicy Orange Tahini Tofu Stir Fry:
Tofu: Preheat the oven 400 F. Make sure your tofu is drained and has been pressed for 15-30 minutes. Cut the tofu into cubes. Coat the tofu in the coconut aminos and starch. Bake for 20-30 minutes until it’s as crispy as you like!
Veggies: Chop up all your veggies while the tofu is cooking!
Sauce: Prepare the sauce while the tofu is cooking as well my mixing together all the ingredients in a small bowl.
Make Stir Fry: Sauté the veggie in a little olive oil. Once they have softened to liking, add in the tofu cubes, and pour over the sauce. Combine well. If the sauce is not sticking, add inn 1 tbsp of tapioca or corn starch mixed with water and combine well.
Why is this Meal Balanced?
Stir Fry is a great option for a quick and easy, yet nutritious and tasty meal!
Protein: The tofu and the tahini are giving us lots of protein!
Carbs: There’s not too many carbs in this on it’s own, but paired with some rice or noodles, you’ll be getting lots of energy!
Fat: The fat in the tahini and the sesame oil are going to help bring lots of taste and satiation!
